"You force yourself to get up. You force yourself to put one foot before the other and God dammit you refuse to let it get to you. You cry. You curse. Then you go about the business of living.”
My Journey
Throughout my career, I have embraced various caregiving roles, including that of a carer and learning support assistant. Community support is integral to my life, and I actively contribute to it whenever possible, balancing these efforts alongside my roles as a mother and professional.
I recognise that counselling is a highly personal experience that must be customised to meet each client's unique needs. It is essential to respect the autonomy of clients, as they are best equipped to articulate their goals for the counselling process. My role is to utilise my expertise to facilitate clients in their journey of self-exploration, aiding them in understanding themselves better and achieving their objectives. While I primarily employ a person-centred/humanistic approach, I integrate elements from other modalities when appropriate for the individual client's situation.
My commitment to supporting others was intensified by my own experiences with chronic pain, including sciatica and back pain, which led to surgery and ongoing investigations into additional pain areas. This personal journey highlighted the gaps in understanding chronic pain management and effective communication, particularly with medical professionals and work colleagues. These insights steered me towards a fulfilling career in helping others navigate similar challenges through informed guidance and empathetic support.
Teaching is my passion, and I am trained in counselling/psychotherapy and supervision (Level 6), possessing substantial experience in addressing issues such as domestic abuse, sexual violence, addiction, and suicide awareness.
Additionally, I work with clients facing a variety of other concerns:
-
Common life issues
-
Depression
-
Anxiety
-
Low self-worth
-
Abuse
-
Stress

Addiction

As therapists, we promote and support your self-exploration through life's experiences. We provide a non-judgmental, empathetic environment where you can be entirely authentic. Therapists are committed to offering their genuine selves and maintaining a positive regard to ensure that you feel heard and understood. Our practice adheres to an ethical framework governed by a regulatory body to guarantee your safety.
While many individuals may be familiar with cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), person-centred therapy does not require extensive paperwork or homework assignments, unless such methods are deemed beneficial by you. Our focus remains on the present, without necessitating an exploration of childhood experiences if they are irrelevant to your current situation.
